Just like every other year, it's set to go down!!! Masters of Rhythm is Africa's biggest dance competition which I have been personally been attending for the past 4 years, and this year, I got a feeling that things are bound to explode than ever before.
In its seventh year running, MOR is set to blaze trails and get everyone talking with an array of both local and international talent in dance, rap and poetry. The search for South Africa's best talent kicked off in Johannesburg in May, and since completed its rotation going around Durban, Cape Town, Nelspruit and Port Elizabeth. The stage is set for the select few to battle for hip-hop dominance, and will take place at the TSA Center in Ormonde on 11 August, where the California originator of Krump, Tight Eyez, will judge and put on an electrifying performance.
The event, which has hosted JR, AKA, L-tido, Dimplez, Bleksem and many more, will host L-Tido, Maggz, PRO, DJ Switch and Ello. This year's event has a twist to it, as it will also feature a Boogaloos skate ramp and various basketball competitions as part of the outdoor activities. The show will be hosted by Hype's Fred Mercury and sexy rising star and SABC1 Live presenter search runner up, Nomuzi Mabena (She is now a finalist for the MTVbase VJ search. All the best to her in that).
Tickets are currently available at computicket at R150 per ticket, and I hear tickets are selling fast! The show will start at 10am and end at 6pm. Clinch City Entertainment has also partnered up with Repertiores member Larry, for a Masters meets Larryngitis afterparty on the night, which is not to be missed.
